CHEBOYGAN — At the June 22 Cheboygan City Council meeting, council members voted to approve a plan designed to replace lead water service lines into homes around the city.
The council also voted to approve an application to the Michigan Department of Environment, Great Lakes and Energy's Drinking Water State Revolving Fund for $1,078,000 to complete the project. This will improve the city's water distribution and around 100 homes in the city could potentially have their water lines replaced.
"This is a funding opportunity we're looking at for lead service lines," said Cheboygan City Manager Tom Eustice.
