The Northwestern Water and Sewer District is moving forward with the first step in its lead service line replacement project. This week, the district began to notify 322 residents who will be impacted by a project to remove all lead service water lines within the district’s water service area. The homeowners and property owners in Northwood and Rossford will soon receive a letter informing them about the project. According the American Water Works Association, the surest way to remove concerns about lead is to remove the entire lead service line. “This first step is to create awareness for those who are impacted, while it is only 1 percent of our 19,000 customers, we understand there will be questions, before during and after the work starts,” said Tom Stalter, district engineer.
